According to the 1880 census, Mother Mary Louis was stated as head of house at St. Stephen's. I will assume it to be a convent. Her occupation and the occupation of all the others sisters was that of teacher, so there must be a Catholic school very close. However, I have found very little information. I can't even find an image of the old church. I would like to get some confirmation on Mother Louis and a young lady named Julia Shea, both of whom I believe resided at 923 West Ohio St., Chicago (West Side), Illinois. Julia Ann Shea is my great, great grandmother.

How would I find the records from Old St Stephens Catholic Church? Many of my Irish ancesters lived at Fry and Carpenter and looking for marriage an baptism records. Thank you Donna Mc Kenna Chamlin
